Data Science
The Department of Data Science at M.I.E.T. Arts & Science College was established in 2023 with the aim of addressing the growing demand for skilled data scientists in industries worldwide. The program is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of data analysis, computer technology, and information security, fostering excellence in both academic and co-curricular pursuits. With a total intake of 100 students, the department offers an industry-aligned curriculum supported by dedicated and experienced faculty members. The department’s infrastructure includes state-of-the-art facilities such as modern computer laboratories, internet-enabled systems, LCD seminar halls, and access to extensive digital and physical resources, including e-books, IEEE journals, Science Direct, and computer journals.
The program aims to:
Train and equip students with skills to meet the requirements of software industries, banking, and government sectors.
Develop proficiency in software development and data security, enabling students to secure employment opportunities in the local and global market.
Provide a strong foundation for students to pursue postgraduate programs in data science, computer science, and related fields.
The computer center is equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including:
2 servers (Windows 2012-R2 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6).
1 backup server and 146 computers operating on Windows 7 in a client-server architecture.
To provide students with the best learning experience and a smart, inclusive environment that enriches data science education, particularly for rural students. The department aims to build knowledge and confidence, enabling students to solve real-world problems and excel in global competitions.

2. To prepare students for the corporate world by enhancing their technical expertise and soft skills while instilling human values.
3. To nurture leadership, creativity, ethical responsibility, and teamwork through various academic and co-curricular initiatives.

WORKSHOP
MIET ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE AND PG Department of Computer Science Conducted a one day workshop on 30.08.2023, at 10.30 AM in our college seminar hall. Dr. K. Syed Kousr Niasi, Associate Professor, and N. Mohamed Bays, System Admin , Department of Computer Science, Jamal Mohamed College share all their thought and Views on the topic “HARDWARE AND NETWORKING”.
Pg department of Computer Science Department hosted an One day seminar on UNLOCKING THE POWER OF DATA:EXPLORING MACHINE LEARNING AND ITS REAL-WORLD APPLILCATION. This session, led by Dr.C.OSWALD , Assistant Professor in Department of Computer Science & Engineering at National Institude of Technology (NIT) Trichy.
